St.Giles' Church Durham

Hello and welcome to the web site for St. Giles’ Church in Gilesgate and St Mary’s Church in Sherburn and St Cuthbert’s Church in Shadforth. Together we are the Church of England (Anglican) churches which, for Christ’ sake and with his help, serve these communities, including Sherburn Hill and Ludworth, on the east of Durham City.
This web site is new and still being constructed and changed so please bear with us if not everything is up and running corectly yet !
Through this web site you will be able to find access to our regular services and meetings as well as special events. If you are a young parent you might want to find out about our parent and toddler groups. If you enjoy singing, you can find out about joining our choir. There are also ways of communicating with us, if you want to book a baptism (Christening), wedding or to hire one of our rooms.
We also have links to other important web sites – the Church of England, the Diocese of Durham, our local schools.
Above all, we are here to share the love of Christ, so if you want to find out more about the Christian Faith, do go to the relevant pages which include ideas about what Christians believe, how to pray and how to read the Bible.
Thank you for visiting our web site. We hope that you will come and visit us in person soon.
With prayer for Christ’s blessing on you this day,
Yours,
Alan Bartlett (Vicar)
